Kookaburra Rapid Cricket Bats: Grades, Profile and Prices

The Kookaburra Rapid is Kookaburra's lightweight family, built for the player who wants a feather-light pick-up, and most 2026 bats weigh 2lb 6oz to 2lb 8oz. Kookaburra aim it at developing and female players, but it suits any batter who values bat speed over mass. The 2026 Rapid has a mid sweet spot, lower than the high middle of the 2024 and 2025 bats. This guide explains the Rapid profile, what each grade number means, the junior sizes and what independent testers made of it, and lists every Rapid we stock with our prices on 20 October 2026.

The Rapid Profile

Kookaburra publish the 2026 Rapid's measurements on their Rapid range page and each bat's listing:

• Sweet spot: mid, about 160mm to 200mm from the toe.
• Edges: 30mm to 33mm, rounded, with a spine of 63mm to 65mm and 1mm to 2mm of scalloping.
• Face and bow: a flat face and a 10mm to 12mm bow.
• Handle and weight: an oval handle, 857mm long on the short handle bats, and a weight of 2lb 6oz to 2lb 8oz.

The 2024 and 2025 Rapids still in stock carry the same edges, spine and weight in their specification, but with the sweet spot quoted higher, at 215mm to 235mm from the toe. If you score most of your runs off the back foot, that older shape is worth a look. Next to the 2026 Ghost, which shares the 160mm to 200mm middle but has 34mm to 37mm edges and weighs 2lb 8oz to 2lb 10oz, the Rapid is the slimmer, lighter bat. Our guides to the Kookaburra Ghost and Kookaburra Kahuna cover the alternatives, and our guide to Kookaburra cricket bats compares every family.

What the Rapid Numbers Mean

The number is the willow grade, as on every Kookaburra: the lower the number, the cleaner and straighter the grain. In our stock the 2024 Rapid Pro is the top grade, then the 1.1, the 2026 Pro 2.1 Elite, the 3.1, 4.1 Hero, 5.1, 6.1 Special and 6.2. The 6.3 Select has an English willow face on a Kashmir willow back. Among the juniors, the 6.4 and 6.5 Force have a Pro Shield face covering, the 4.1 Hero junior has a non-oil Armourtec face, and the 8.1 is Kashmir willow.

The Rapid Ultralite is the one to look at if pick-up matters most. Kookaburra give it a 15mm shorter blade and a 15mm longer handle, slimmer edges of 28mm to 30mm and a weight of 2lb 4oz to 2lb 6oz. At the other end, the 6.3 Select we have is a 2lb 9oz bat, an ounce over the range's quoted weights.

What Independent Testers Said

The Cricketer tested the 2026 Rapid 6.1 Special and scored it 7.5 overall in its Rapid 6.1 Special review, calling it "a clear favourite" with the testers. The test bat weighed 2lb 7oz with 37mm edges, at an RRP of £250. Testers praised the easy pick-up and the ping from the middle, though the review found the sweet spot "reasonably high" and less forgiving away from it. The 2025 Rapid 3.1 also scored 7.5: four testers called it "nice and light", and the main complaint was that mishits did not fly. That test bat weighed 2lb 7oz with 34mm edges, at an RRP of £375. We sell the 6.1 Special at £244.99 and the 2024 Rapid 3.1 at £254.99.
