Kookaburra Ghost Cricket Bats: Grades, Profile and Prices
The Kookaburra Ghost is Kookaburra's mid-sweet-spot bat, built for the classical, all-round stroke player, and it is the bat Marnus Labuschagne uses. Where the Kahuna sits high in the blade for hitting on the up, the Ghost's middle is lower and more central, so it suits a batter who drives off both feet. This guide explains the Ghost profile, what each grade number means, the junior sizes and what independent testers made of it, and lists every Ghost we stock with our prices on 20 October 2026.
The Ghost Profile
Kookaburra publish the 2026 Ghost's measurements on their Ghost range page and each bat's listing:
- Sweet spot: mid, about 160mm to 200mm from the toe, for balanced, all-round stroke play.
- Edges: 34mm to 37mm, rounded, with a spine of 63mm to 67mm and 1mm to 2mm of scalloping.
- Face and bow: a face rounded by 2mm and a 10mm to 12mm bow.
- Handle: oval, in short handle (857mm) and long handle (876mm) on the 5.1 Legend and Pro 3.1 Icon.
The 2025 Ghosts still in stock were specified slightly differently, with the sweet spot quoted at 195mm to 215mm and edges of 35mm to 38mm, so check each listing if you are choosing between years. Next to the Kahuna, whose sweet spot sits at 200mm to 210mm, the 2026 Ghost plays lower in the blade. Our Kookaburra Kahuna guide covers the higher shape, and our guide to Kookaburra cricket bats compares every family.
What the Ghost Numbers Mean
The number is the willow grade, and it works the same way across Kookaburra's range: the lower the number, the cleaner and straighter the grain. Pro 1.1 Players Select is the top grade we stock, then Pro 3.1 Icon, 5.1 Legend and 6.1. The 6.2 Ultra has an English willow face on a Kashmir willow back, the 6.4 has a Pro Shield face covering, and the 7.1 junior is alternative willow throughout.

What Independent Testers Said
The Cricketer has tested the Ghost in two grades. Its 2024 review of the Ghost 3.1 scored it 7.8 overall. The test bat weighed 2lb 7oz with 31mm edges, testers called it "really light" and "whippy", and former England bowler Alex Tudor called it a "good trustworthy bat" that would improve with use. A later test of the cheaper Ghost 6.4 Ultimate scored 7: some testers found it slightly light, others praised its pick-up and smooth downswing.
Who Uses the Ghost
Marnus Labuschagne is the Ghost's best-known player. Kookaburra sell a Pro Players Replica of his bat at £1,099.99, describing it as an exact copy with a 15mm shorter blade, a mid sweet spot and Players grade willow. Our page on what bats the pros use covers the other brands' players.
Which Ghost to Buy
- Club player, hard ball every week: the 2026 5.1 Legend at £269.99, in short or long handle, or the 2025 5.1 at £209.99.
- Cleaner willow: the Pro 3.1 Icon at £369.99, the same grade The Cricketer tested in 2024.
- Light pick-up: the Ghost Lite at £164.99.
- Second bat or occasional player: the 6.2 at £179.99 or the 6.2 Ultra at £219.99, which have a Kashmir willow back.
- Players grade: the Pro 1.1 Players Select at £619.99, in our Players Edition cricket bats collection.
If you drive on the up and play off the back foot on quick pitches, the higher Kahuna may suit you better. Kookaburra's bats come pre-prepared, which shortens knocking in without removing it; our guide to knocking in a new cricket bat covers the rest.
