GM Brava Cricket Bats: Grades, Profile and Prices

Gunn & Moore Brava cricket bat

The Gunn & Moore Brava is GM's low-swell bat with its big edges set in the drive area: its specification pairs a low swell for front-foot play with a massive edge size in the driving zone, on a traditional full blade with an F2 face and GM's Pro-Lite grip. We stock seven Brava bats across 2024 and 2025, from the 2024 404 at £119.99 to the 2025 Original at £499.99, including a 909, but no junior Brava. The Brava DXM 606 scored 8.3 in The Cricketer's test, with 9 for performance. This guide explains the Brava profile, the willow grade behind each number, what the testers said, and lists every Brava we stock with our prices on 22 October 2026.

The Brava Profile

Every Brava in our stock, 2024 or 2025, carries the same shape in its specification:

  • Swell: low, for front-foot play.
  • Edges: a massive edge size, placed in the drive area.
  • Face and bow: an F2 face profile and GM's Powerarc bow, on a traditional full blade.
  • Grip and willow: GM's Pro-Lite grip, made in England from English willow, with navy and gold GM labels.

The listings give no blade length or edge measurement. The Brava is one of three low-swell GM shapes we stock, and the listings separate them by where the wood goes: the Aion's specification stresses huge edges and a sweeping spine, the Verva's a deep toe on the shorter L540 blade, and the Brava's big edges in the driving zone. Both the Aion and the Verva use GM's Fuze grip; the Brava has the Pro-Lite grip, like the Psyche. For a mid swell, see the GM Diamond, and our GM cricket bats review compares every range.

What the GM Grades Mean

The number is the willow grade, and it rises with the willow, with the Original at the top. The Brava listings say the range is made from seven grades of English willow, and they state the grade for most of the bats we stock:

  • 404 (2025): seasoned Grade 3 willow, bleached.
  • 404 (2024): seasoned, unbleached Grade 3 willow.
  • 808 (2024 and 2025): seasoned, unbleached Grade 2 willow.
  • 909: unbleached Grade 1 willow.
  • Original: seasoned, unbleached Grade 1 willow.

The Signature's listing does not state its own grade, and at £194.99 it sits between the 404 and the 808 on price. The 909 and the Original are both Grade 1 yet £170 apart with us, which makes the 909 the cheapest Grade 1 Brava by a distance. The 2024 bats are the cheaper buys at the same number: the 2024 404 is £5 less than the 2025 bat and unbleached where the 2025 bat is bleached, and the 2024 808 is £30 less than the 2025 808.

What Independent Testers Said

The Cricketer tested the Brava DXM 606 in February 2023 and scored it 8.3 overall in its Brava DXM 606 bat review, with 9.0 for performance, 8.8 for build quality and 7.8 for both initial impression and pick-up. Two testers gave its performance 10. The test bat weighed 2lb 12oz with 39mm edges, at an RRP of £165, and the review's verdict was that it represented great value for money. One tester found the design "a bit bland" but said it "had a lovely middle, with one of the better pings", and another called it a "generally good bat that would suit multiple kinds of player".

Those 39mm edges are within a millimetre of the 4.0cm limit in MCC Law 5.7.2. The test was of the 2023 DXM 606, an earlier Brava than the 2024 and 2025 bats we stock, and our 2025 Brava 606 is sold out.
