GM Verva Cricket Bats: Grades, Profile and Prices

The Gunn & Moore Verva is GM's low-swell bat with a deep toe: its specification pairs a low swell for front-foot striking with massive toe depth, on GM's shorter L540 blade with an F2 face and the Fuze grip. Every Verva we stock is a 2025 model, and we have all five senior grades, the 404, 606, Signature, 808 and Original, from £124.99 to £499.99, plus juniors from size 4. The Verva Signature scored 7.7 in The Cricketer's 2025 bat test. This guide explains the Verva profile, the willow grade behind each number, what the testers said, and lists every Verva we stock with our prices on 22 October 2026.
The Verva Profile
Every senior Verva in our stock carries the same shape in its specification:
- Blade: GM's L540 blade, shorter than the L555 blade on the 2026 Diamond, Rival and Galaxy.
- Swell: low, for front-foot striking.
- Toe: massive toe depth, with sweeping contours.
- Face and bow: an F2 face profile and GM's Powerarc bow, on a full blade.
- Grip and willow: GM's Fuze grip, made in England from English willow.
The Verva shares its low swell, F2 face and Fuze grip with the Aion. The difference is where the listings put the wood: the Verva's specification stresses toe depth, the Aion's huge edges and a sweeping spine. The Psyche keeps the same L540 blade but moves the swell to the middle, as on the GM Diamond, while the Rival sits mid to low and the Galaxy mid to high. Our GM cricket bats review compares every range.
What the GM Grades Mean
The number is the willow grade, and it rises with the willow, with the Original at the top. The Verva listings say the range is made from seven grades of English willow, and they state the grade for each senior bat we stock:
- 404: seasoned Grade 3 willow, bleached.
- 606: seasoned, unbleached Grade 3 willow.
- Signature: seasoned, unbleached Grade 2 willow.
- 808: seasoned, unbleached Grade 2 willow.
- Original: unbleached Grade 1 willow.
The Signature and the 808 are given the same grade, yet the 808 costs £105 more with us. The biggest step in the range is from the 808 to the Original, £200, for the move from Grade 2 to Grade 1. All of it is English willow, and the grower JS Wright & Sons, which says it supplies about 75% of the world's English cricket bat willow, gives the trees 12 to 20 years to reach maturity.

What Independent Testers Said
The Cricketer tested the Verva Signature in February 2025 and scored it 7.7 overall in its Verva Signature bat review, with 8.0 for performance, 7.8 for build quality, 7.7 for pick-up and 7.2 for initial impression. The test bat weighed 2lb 8oz with 37mm edges, at an RRP of £230. Former England Test opener Mark Stoneman called it the bat of the day, saying "It has a lovely tapered handle". All four student testers liked it, and one said the low middle suited his game, praising its balanced pick-up despite the low centre.
That is a higher score than The Cricketer gave the 2025 Psyche 909 (7.3) or the 2025 Aion 606 (6.9). We sell the Verva Signature at £194.99, in 2lb 9oz or 2lb 11oz.
