GM Galaxy Cricket Bats: Grades, Profile and Prices

Gunn & Moore Galaxy cricket bat

The Gunn & Moore Galaxy is GM's mid to high swell bat, the highest middle of GM's Diamond, Rival, Aion and Galaxy shapes, with a full blade and an F2 face. We stock the 2026 Galaxy in the 404, 808, Original and Limited Edition, from £152.99 to £749.99, and juniors from size 4. The Galaxy 404 scored 8.3 in The Cricketer's 2026 bat test, the same mark in every category. This guide explains the Galaxy profile, what the GM grades mean, what the testers said, and lists every Galaxy we stock with our prices on 30 October 2026.

The Galaxy Profile

Every Galaxy in our stock is a 2026 bat, and each carries the same measurements in its specification:

  • Blade and handle: GM's traditional L555 blade length with a 295mm handle.
  • Swell: mid to high, for balance and pick-up.
  • Face and bow: an F2 face profile and GM's Powerarc bow, on a traditional full blade.
  • Grip and willow: GM's Galaxy grip with a metallic textured finish, made in England from English willow.

Next to the mid-swell GM Diamond, the mid to low GM Rival and the low-swell GM Aion, the Galaxy puts its middle highest in the blade. Our GM cricket bats review compares every range.

What the GM Grades Mean

The number is the willow grade, and it rises with the willow: the 404 is the entry English willow Galaxy, the 606 and 808 sit above it, and the Original is the top grade in the numbered range. The shape does not change between grades. The 2026 Galaxy listings do not give a willow grade for each number, so the price is the clearest guide: £152.99 for the 404, £339.99 for the 808 and £489.99 for the Original. The Limited Edition sits outside that ladder, at £749.99 with us, and its listing carries the same specification as the other Galaxies.

Every grade is English willow, a timber the grower JS Wright & Sons says takes 12 to 20 years to reach maturity. Top grades have become expensive across the trade: City AM reported in February 2026 that Grade 1 bats had more than doubled in price over a decade, to around £1,000.

What Independent Testers Said

The Cricketer tested the Galaxy 404 in March 2026 and scored it 8.3 overall in its Galaxy 404 bat review, with 8.3 in every category: initial impression, build quality, pick-up and performance. The test bat weighed 2lb 9oz with 35mm edges, at an RRP of £159. Yorkshire batter Adam Lyth, whom the magazine describes as a long-time GM athlete, praised the colour scheme and the pick-up, and other testers highlighted a "consistently responsive middle that performed impressively" in both attacking and defensive shots.

That is higher than the 7.8 The Cricketer gave the Diamond DXM 909 in 2024, a bat with more than twice the RRP. We sell the Galaxy 404 at £152.99, in 2lb 8oz or 2lb 11oz.
