DSC Blak Cricket Bats: Grades, Profile and Prices

The DSC Blak is a thick-edged bat with a low sweet spot, which its specification aims at low-bouncing pitches, and it is the range New Zealand's Rachin Ravindra uses. The bats we stock are 2025 models, and DSC's UK site no longer lists Blak bats, though DSC still sells the range under other model numbers outside the UK. With us the Blak runs from £169.99 to £509.99. This guide explains the Blak profile and grades, what The Cricketer made of it, the junior sizes and who uses it, and lists every Blak we stock with our prices on 20 October 2026.
The Blak Profile
Every Blak in our stock carries the same shape in its specification:
- Sweet spot: low in the blade, for low-bouncing pitches.
- Edges: thick edges with subtle concaving.
- Handle: a treble-spring handle.
DSC's international site sells Blak bats under different numbers and describes the Blak 300 in similar terms: a low blade profile for front-foot players, with a treble-spring handle. Neither DSC nor our listings publish edge or sweet spot measurements for the UK models. Next to the DSC Cynos, which has a mid swell, and the DSC Blu, with its mid to low profile, the Blak's middle is the lowest of the three. Our guide to DSC cricket bats compares every range, and our comparison of Indian cricket bat brands sets DSC against the other subcontinent makers.
What the DSC Grades Mean
With the UK Blak models gone from DSC's site, the willow grades here come from the specification on our listings. The Blak 1000 is grade 1 English willow, the Blak 2000 grade 2, the Blak 3000 and Blak 4000 grade 3, and the Blak 5000 grade 4. As on most DSC ranges, the lower the number, the higher the grade and the price. We have the 1000, 3000 and 5000 in stock; the 2000 and 4000 have sold out.
Every Blak We Stock
| Bat | Year | Our price | In stock |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blak 1000 | 2025 | £509.99 | SH 2lb 8oz |
| Blak 3000 | 2025 | £339.99 | SH 2lb 8oz |
| Blak 5000 | 2025 | £169.99 | SH 2lb 8oz |
Senior bats in stock on 20 October 2026; SH is short handle. Each model is down to one 2lb 8oz bat. A 2025 bat is the same willow grade it was when it was current; what you lose is the choice of weights. Every bat here is in our DSC cricket bats collection.
Junior Blak Bats
| Bat | Willow | Sizes in stock | Our price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blak 5000 (2025) | English willow, grade 4 | 3, 4, 5, 6 | £149.99 |
| Blak 3000 (2025) | English willow, grade 3 | 5, Small Adult | £179.99 |
Both are English willow for hard-ball cricket. The Blak 5000 junior is the one to look at for younger players, since it starts at size 3; the 3000 is the higher grade in size 5 or Small Adult. Use our cricket bat size guide to choose the size and our guide to the best junior cricket bats to compare brands.
What Independent Testers Said
The Cricketer tested the 2024 Blak 4000 and scored it 7.6 overall in its 2024 bat review. The test bat weighed 2lb 8oz with 37mm edges, at an RRP of £236. Performance was its best mark at 7.9, with build quality 7.7, pick-up 7.4 and first impression 7.3. The review found the power comes off the middle with good timing. Huw Turbervill said "the middle was pretty good" and that the bat was quite light, but found the handle a little thin; others found it slightly toe-heavy, and one student called it "a bit thick". Alex Tudor thought it would suit a low-bouncing surface, which matches the specification. The 4000 has sold out with us; the 2025 Blak 3000 is listed in the same grade 3 willow at £339.99.
Who Uses the Blak
DSC's player page lists three internationals with Blak kit: New Zealand's Rachin Ravindra and South Africa's Temba Bavuma and Marco Jansen. DSC's international site sells its player-grade Blak as the Rachin Ravindra Cricket Bat, endorsed by Ravindra and Bavuma.
Which Blak to Buy
- Club player on a budget: the Blak 5000 at £169.99, in grade 4 willow.
- Closest to the tested bat: the Blak 3000 at £339.99, in the same grade 3 willow as the Blak 4000 The Cricketer reviewed.
- Top grade: the Blak 1000 at £509.99, in grade 1 willow. Compare it with other makers' top grades in our Players Edition cricket bats collection.
The Blak suits a batter who plays mostly off the front foot on low-bouncing pitches. If you want a higher middle, the Cynos and Blu are the alternatives, and the DSC Krunch is the other last-season range. Every Blak is English willow and needs preparing before a match; our guide to knocking in a new cricket bat covers it.
