Mumbai Indians Jerseys: History, Editions and Buying Guide

Mumbai Indians have worn blue since 2008 and blue and gold since the 2010 rebrand, and the shirt has been redesigned by a named fashion designer in most recent seasons. Five titles, in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020, make it the most decorated kit in the league, and the club's own store sells it in three tiers from a 999-rupee fan jersey to a 5,999-rupee player edition. Sky Blue to Blue and Gold

The first MI kits, in 2008 and 2009, were sky blue with a cobalt band and no gold. Gold arrived with the 2010 rebrand and has been part of the shirt ever since, which means the 2013 title was won in blue and gold rather than in the original sky blue. The club's own description of its colour is imperial blue, which it says stands for empathy and dependability.

The Five Titles

• 2013. Beat Chennai Super Kings by 23 runs.
• 2015. Beat CSK by 41 runs.
• 2017. Beat Rising Pune Supergiant by one run.
• 2019. Beat CSK by one run, Lasith Malinga defending nine from the last over.
• 2020. Beat Delhi Capitals by five wickets in Dubai.

The Designer Editions

• 2021, Panch Maha Bhoota. A five-elements design by Shantanu and Nikhil, unveiled on 27 March 2021 and sold through The Souled Store at 1,999 rupees.
• 2022, Camo-tech. Again by Shantnu and Nikhil, unveiled 15 March 2022, with Slice as the new front sponsor on a three-year deal reported at 90 to 100 crore rupees. Replica pre-orders were 2,499 rupees.
• 2024, the M-grid. Skechers became kit partner in February 2024 for the men's and women's teams, and Monisha Jaising designed a shirt built on an art deco M-grid in royal and imperial blue with gold racing stripes, revealed on 7 March 2024.
• 2025. Unveiled 21 February 2025, blue and gold retained with the Skechers logo on the non-leading arm, player edition at 4,999 rupees and replica at 2,499.
• 2026. Unveiled 6 March 2026: a repeating M pattern in deep blue and gold waves, kit partner Skechers India.

Things you will read elsewhere that are wrong: a 2019 art deco shirt, the 2020 title in the Camo-tech kit, a record 200-plus chase against RCB in 2020, and official jerseys at 599 to 799 rupees. The art deco kit is 2024, the camouflage is 2022, the chase did not happen, and the club's own replica has been 2,499 rupees since 2022.

Who Makes and Sells the Shirts

Skechers has made the kit since 2024. playR was the global merchandise partner from 2022 to 2024, and the club now sells through its own store at shop.mumbaiindians.com, which lists the 2026 range as a fan jersey at 999 rupees in interlock polyester with simplified sponsors, a replica at 2,499 and a player edition at 5,999 in jacquard fabric with mesh gussets and an athletic fit, plus kids' replica and fan versions. The MI Cape Town SA20 shirt and the MI New York MLC shirt are sister franchises in the same blue and gold and are sometimes mistaken for the IPL kit.

1. Know the tier. The club's fan jersey is a sixth of the price of its player edition, and both are official. A "player edition" at a fan-jersey price is a fan jersey or a copy.
2. Date it by design. Five elements is 2021, camouflage 2022, M-grid 2024, waves 2026. Skechers on the arm means 2024 or later.
3. Check for the IPL crest. MI Cape Town and MI New York shirts carry their own crests. They are good shirts, but they are not the Mumbai Indians.
